Red House, Ireby, Wigton

An exceptional four bedroom Georgian residence located in the picturesque fell village of Ireby, on the edge of the Lake District National Park, Red House has been extensively restored and updated and is now a comfortable and stylish family home in an idyllic village setting. There are good sized gardens and a further two acre field a short distance from the property.

The interior of the property is of exceptional character and finish, having been recently restored to retain and replicate the Georgian charmand style. The residence has been renovated to include a new roof, wiring, plumbing and double glazed sash windows, with a superb new extension connecting the original building to the garage. To the front of the property are two grand reception rooms with high ceilings and large shuttered sash windows. The sitting room has a wood burning stove with attractive sandstone surround, with the flexible use dining room having an ornate fireplace and fitted cabinetry.

At the rear of the property the new extension has allowed for an outstanding open plan living space with kitchen and a snug area for dining and relaxing. The recently fitted kitchen has solid wood cabinets and worktop with central island, Belfast sink and electric Aga range. Trifold doors open the kitchen out onto the enclosed garden patio for alfresco dining. Adjoining the kitchen is a utility/boot room with external stable door and access into the garage.

At the heart of the ground floor is a stunning hallway with panelled walls, grand arched doorway and original sweeping stair balustrade leading to the first floor past a double height arched window. To the first floor are four split level bedrooms, with the spacious master bedroom having fitted cabinets and two large windows with views of Aughertree Fell. The property has three bathrooms, one having a luxurious roll top bath, one with a rain shower over bath and a shower/cloakroom to the ground floor.

To the rear of the property is a good sized garden with lawn, raised beds, enclosed chicken run and sunken patio area. The back of the garden enjoys the best of the fell views and there is scope for an additional dining terrace here. To the front a pretty lavender hedge leads you up a path to the property, with a good sized parking area in front of the garage.
