9 Bedrooms £1,500,000

Camerton, Cockermouth

Camerton Hall is a magnificent imposing Grade II listed Georgian Manor House, set in six acres of grounds overlooking wonderful parkland and a woodland backdrop, situated just outside the Lake District National Park. With an internal floor area of around 10,000ft2 (930m2) this beautiful historic property bears stately proportions. The recently refurbished accommodation includes a grand banqueting hall, billiard room, three further grand reception rooms, nine bedrooms, four bathrooms and two kitchens.

The Hall presently serves our clients both as a personal residence and a private function venue, specialising now in afternoon teas and previously as a luxury wedding venue. It is located on the edge of Camerton village, less than six miles from Cockermouth and within easy reach of the Cumbrian Heritage Coast and Lake District National Park.

The Hall was built in 1833 by the Cooke family on the site of a medieval tower house which now forms part of the structure of the Banqueting Hall. The building has superb architectural features, including curved walls and windows.

Inside, the rooms are on a grand scale, with high corniced ceilings and large sliding sash windows which bring in light in abundance. A large extension was added early 20th century, with a spectacular billiards room, extending to 9.66m (31’8”) and finished with beautiful Arts & Crafts oak fireplace and windows.

The present owners have renovated the property to an exceptional standard, incorporating and enhancing evocative Georgian period characteristics, including marble fireplaces, feature archways, functional window shutters, panelled door linings enhancing the depth of internal walls, and a beautiful split wing staircase.

Outside, the Hall is surrounded by attractive landscaped gardens with sweeping driveways, extensive lawns, mature trees and a walled kitchen garden. This is a rare opportunity to own a landmark historic Cumbrian property, which offers both an idyllic lifestyle and scaleable business opportunities.

Camerton Hall is located on the edge of the West Cumbrian village of Camerton, surrounded by beautiful countryside, woodland and riverside walks.  The village is just a few miles from the Cumbrian coast with the Lake District National Park around seven miles away with stunning lakes and fells to explore.

The towns of Workington and Cockermouth offer excellent amenities, including secondary schools, supermarkets and variety of restaurants and boutiques.
